I work for my brother in law who owns an online business. Im the guy who makes the banner designs for the website. I am not an employee but rather a vendor. I cant change to be an employee but my question is..

when i send my timesheet in every month to get paid, sometimes i get my check in 2 weeks, other times it takes almost 4 weeks.

is this legal to wait almost a month to send me my check?
its annoying when i have no idea when im going to be paid.

he says because im a vendor he has 30 days to pay me but i want to be sure he isnt using me because he knows its cheaper for me to make the designs than go to a professional company.

It's not illegal, but the two of you should have an understanding re when you will be paid.

Unless their is some other agreement in place, 30 days is pretty standard to pay a vendor.
