Legal age to get a job?

I'm a 14 year old in Oregon, and I want to get a job as soon as possible to, well, to make money. Also, I learned that by working generally anywhere, I could get high school credit (which means more chance of good college). And I thought that 16=job age, but some people have said that if you 14 you can get a job with parents permission, is that true? (I know it matters where you work too, for example, I wouldn't be allowed to work at a bar or anything of the sort). Thanks!

child labor laws severely restrict the type of work and hrs and schedule you can work when you are under 16, and very few places even consider hiring anyone under the gae of 16 - add the severe recession to that and millions of unemployed experienced workers competing for the same few job openings you are and your chances of getting a job before age 16 are probably 1 in 10,000 if you are lucky |

well you can work starting at age 14 but depending on the areaa you live in some places won't hire you until you are 16. i live in NYC so its a little different than in big suburban areas like oregon |
