was fired from my city job for some thing i did not do and they still put the reason in my termination letter that i was guilty of this when there were no charges brought against me

1. Find an attorney who specializes in wrongful termination, especially those which deal with public agencies. I don't know about Arizona law, but in CA, there is a protected "property right" in certain government/public entity jobs for which they have to have cause to terminate you and give you a right to a "Skelly" hearing (named after a case).
2. Contact your local county bar association for a referral.
3. Do this ASAP!

a few things to consider:
1. did you have a contract? if not you are employed "at-will"
2. if you are "at-will" was the firing based on a discriminatory reason, retaliation or your taking part of a protected activity?
3. if not what do you intend to sue for?
4. do you realize that an attorney will only get their "fee" paid for out of a settlement and that you are still charged for all expenses involved in the case win or lose?

investigate a little before you make an expensive and silly mistake.
