Well, I'm 18, live in michigan looking to become a police officer and i was wondering if it would be a good time to become one? I'd be willing to move anywhere (really..anywhere) I've just heard that some jobs are not going to have a lot of opening in the near futur and i just need to know what my chances are. Thank YOU.

With population growth, the need for criminal justice and police officers will increase. The bigger a city becomes, the more people are needed to ensure order.
For example, Los Angeles has had a shortage of officers. Only recently have they decided to increase its police force. While the City is having a hiring freeze and considering laying off civilians, they are heavily recruiting people to become police officers. I'm actually considering it...I'd get paid much more, even though I was recently promoted to a supervisory position. |

A lot of cops are nearing retirement age and there will be a lot of openings for cops. I don't have to tell you about Detroit and crime. |

Phoenix AZ is located in what is called "the valley of the sun". Phoenix is surrounded by "cities" that most would refer to as suburbs, and each community has been advertising to fill "Police Officer" positions for a couple of years now. My nephew, a Michigan native, is now a detective with a local Department. He tells me that most cadets attending the police academy, usually have job offers before they graduate. The starting salaries are in the $40's.
I certainly suggest that you look into it. Use a search engine to dig up police departments in and around PHX. |
