Minor Age discrimination?

Hello i was just wondering i have been at a major retailer for over a year and im 17 but since im under 18 they recently cut all the minor hours in the store would that be discrimination or not

Nope, age discrimination laws in the US only apply to people over 40.

No it's not.

Laws regarding discrimination based on age only apply to those over the age of 40. So while you can't discriminate someone for being over 40, you can for someone under 40.

it can be, but if they plan to expand or have alot of full time job offerings they will have to make cut-backs.

It probably is, however you would have a lot of difficulty proving it. If it was a major retailer, they would have consulted a team of lawyers before doing so, and will know they can't get in trouble.

Normally I'm all about standing up for what you believe in, however in this case, you probably have not chance at all.

Pick your battles, my friend. Don't pick this one. Soon you'll be 18 and all your troubles will be over.
