Misdemeanor conviction required on job application?

I know that employers ask if an applicant has ever been convicted of a felony. but what about a misdemeanor? I know that misdemeanors do stay on ones record, but is an applicant required to reveal that information when attempting to get employment?

If you are asked you should, it is easy enough to find it in a very basic background check.

It will explain on the application. Basically the only things you DO NOT have to report is traffic violations. Like speeding tickets, parking tickets, etc. Anything they put handcuffs on you for then yes you need to tell them about it.
And usually it will say "if you had a conviction less than 5 years ago" so if it happened 6+ years ago dont tell them about it if it says that on the application!

When you check off "yes" they leave a space to explain. Make sure you quickly and clearly explain.

For example say you were charged with breaking and entering but it wasnt that simple. Dont give a long story just say it quick like:

Yes. "I was convicted of breaking and entering. It was my grandfather's home and we no longer get along. So my grandfather had me sentenced because he was mad at me and to have the damaged covered by his home insurance"

Just try to explain quickly. And put in that you "learned my lesson and served my sentence and are now an upstanding citizen" etc. Try to make it sound not as serious as it was, if possible. But also make it quick and clear what you were convicted for.
