hello - this is a good questions. while i suggest calling a lawyer, i would also suggest talking to your boss, either as a group or alone, first and seeing if this can be worked out some other way. You don't mention the amount of money taken, or how much is coming from your paycheck, but either way, this does not seem to be the right answer. Also, where was the money, was it locked up or out in the open (where delivery men etc might have access). while a lawyer will be able to help you, if you talk to your boss first you may have a result more quickly than you thought. good luck!

It is definately not legal. Not only that but because the manager has chosen to take money out of your collective paychecks to pay it back, he has opened himself up to a clear lawsuit, that can also force him to pay punitive damages in certain situations. However had he reduced you pay due to the loss that actually might have been legal, assuming you didn't have a contract.

LOL, no thats totally illegal, ask a cop. i cant believe hes doing that XD

ABSOLUTELY ILLEGAL. Report him at once to your state's Department of Labor. He is stealing from his employees!!!

CALL A LAWYER. File a lawsuit.

Call a lawyer that handles "Employment" issues. The Yellow Pages is fine for this, because they are probably going to direct you to some government agency to file a complaint before they could open a case against them anyway.

Start looking for another job. Your boss is a moron to even attempt this, and if ones continues to work for a moron, it doesn't speak well for your own judgment.
