My Dad works for an agency that works for the federal government. He was a Quality Control Inspector. A month ago, the group was taken over by another agency after a bidding process that they go through every four years. The new agency came in and demoted all but 4 of the Quality Control Inspector positions with half the pay, however they are asking them to perform the same job functions. The interesting thing is the Quality Control position and the pay was mandated by the department of the govt. when they did a study of the job functions 4 years ago. My Dad and this group of employees have filed a complaint with the Labor dept. The employer has knowledge of this and yesterday they asked that all these people come into the break room every morning instead of going straight to work and then they will escort them to their work places. They also cut off their email access. What are his legal options here? All these people are frustrated and they may be willing to stand together.. Additional Details I mean they are all frustrated because of the sudden drop in pay and demotion, plus really bad treatment that they are receiving. The agency knows that they need the expertise and the knowledge of these people to get the work done and they are really going about it in an unethical way in my opinion. At this point I am willing to do anything to help him out and these people because they are all frustrated. Any help, opinions, suggestions will be immensly helpful. Please add details.. Thanks.

They've done what they can. Sounds like the employer wants them to leave voluntarilly - so the employer doesn't have to pay a severance or unemployment if they lay them off. |

This is the key as to why they were able to do this. Wrong and I would advise them to fight it. Is there a union and what are they doing?
They need to all get together and "get sick" for a day or two. Even if it means going to the doctor. |

The converse of this scenario has happened to me. I was promoted to a managers' position with greatly increased responsibilities, a huge budget to oversee and 40 more people to "lead". However
" Due to current fiscal restraints, we will be unable to give you an increase in salary until "possibly" the next fiscal year(nine months hence).Go figure. And good luck. |
