you can sue them...the only thing a former employer can do is state the dates that you worked there and your income for the position. sue the louses! I was fired one ...not for the same thing but for something crumby and i am praying for any reason to sue them....go for it!

Merry Meet Lemlar,

Many states have laws against negative reviews or defamation of character. I suggest you look into your states laws on the subject. In the end it does cost money to fight it. Sometimes it’s best to walk away and leave that part out of your resume. Of course it leaves a hole in your work history, but some times we need to deal with that issue, rather then the other.

I hope this blurp helps.

Blessed Be

P.S. An employer does not need to show anyone anything unless they have received a court order. Usually that means you are going to court on the issue then, and that could get ugly and pricey.

file a claim in small claims court for defamation. Provide to the court any proof that you can come up with.

You are allowed to see your personnel file, especially anything you signed. Just request this and schedule a time to look at your file.

Also, if they are saying something untrue and it is damaging you this is slander, and against the law. I am not suggesting that you sue, but that you use this information to get your former employer to stop saying something that is not true.

i dont think that a former employer is allowed to give any detailed info about you or your employment with them. they can just say that you are available for rehire or not.

But you can just not list them as a reference if they are talking trash.

Personally i would speak to the previous employer about this. And why would anyone sign something to admit to that? What a wierdo employer. Dont list them as a reference and tell your old boss to get a life.
