My hubby wants to be a police officer but I have bad credit...?

My husband wants more than anything to become a police officer. He graduated with High Honors in college and has great credit. I, however, have bad credit. All of the applications that my husband has recently filled out for different police departments in Illinois require credit checks on him which is fine of course- but will they check my credit since I am married to him? Will my bad credit ruin his chance of becoming a police officer?

Any knowledge regarding this will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

It could affect his chances. His credit is more important than yours. It depends on the department. It could depend on how bad your credit is, why it is so bad, and how much debt you have. no dont worry.Its like when my husband joined the military they checked him for everything and for bad credit.They never asked a single thing about my credit or anything personal.

I highly doubt it. What does good credit have to do with being a good police officer anyway?

I doubt that they will check your credit. If the job involved the defense department or a contractor then they would most likely check your background as well as his.

Your credit is irrelevant. He is the one being held to a higher standard.
