My husband is being phased out of his job, is this legal?
Find answers to your legal question.

My husband is being phased out of his job, is this legal?

He was told previously he was up for a promotion and has been left incharge of his workplace by his bosses on numerous occasions without the training or authority to be in such a position.
He works for a large sandwich chain. His boss announced to all the staff except the one in question that the shift supervisor was being sacked, she is now taking the boss to a tribunal, my husband was due in line for the sacked employee's job but for an unknown reason has suddenly had his hours cut from 36 per week to 15!!!!!!!!
He has been told he will not be getting the promotion and has been diciplined for turning up to work late even though every other employee has vouched that he is NEVER late. (He annoys me by leaving for work so he gets there a half hour early)

His contract does not stipulate a set amount of hours so we cannot argue his case based on that point but does anybody have any ideas.
He's looking for another job but in the mean time we have to live off his wages as mine all go on bills.
There must be some way he can complain but what can he say? They are more likely to listen to his boss than him and he is not contracted for a set number of hours so in that sense he has no leg to stand on. Sombody help please!!!

Of course its legal. Any job can be phased out. Happened to me and it happens to thousands of people every day. He can complain all he wants, but the company can simply say they have to reduce staff and job functions they either can't afford anymore or they feel they no longer need.

File for unemployment when he loses his job and start looking for another job...

If his contract doesnt say how many hours he should do then you dont have any comeback on them. You could try Citizens advice, but I think they would tell you the same. My daughters boyfriend was in a similar position recently, except they cut his hours to nil - this was in a large worldwide sandwich chain too - probably the same one!!
