i go to a christian school and the principal thinks that the twilight saga is going against what we are tought in school. but can they really forbid us from having them in school?
what else will i read in class..

A private school can prohibit and/or require anything that they desire. There's no law that says you have to be allowed unlimited access to any type of reading material, especially one which goes against the fundamental principles of the religion your parents are paying money to have you learn about.
Sorry. Read the books at home at night and on weekends. |

Yes, it is perfectly legal for a PRIVATE school to regulate what you can read, wear, do... in class. In fact, they can make rules regarding what you can do away from school too.

Yes it's legal to make whatever rules they want to.
You could try paying attention to the teacher in class - or bring in books that the school hasn't banned |

Private schools can make their own rules about things. My school had rules about how long your skirt should be, and what color sweater you wore with what color socks. If the principal thinks something is at odds with the values and principles taught at the school, he's not only right to forbid them, but as a parent I'd expect him to do that.
You could try reading your math book in math class, your French book in French class, you English book in English class, your science book in science class...see how that works? |

it's not illegal but it's definitely not fair and doesn't make any sense. you guys should be able to read whatever your heart desires and i suggest you and your classmates should make a petition or get the parents to complain. |
