I was fired from my work...without giving any reason ....and they said they will call police and I was perfect in my work...i had left for pregancy leave for 6 week...please some one help me...can i sue the company and what kida action can i take againts the company....i am in chicago and if u know somone who can help...please advice me.

Shane's response is right on, especially whenever a situation elevates to levels of threats and calling the police. Hmmm?

As others posted definitely contact your State Department of Labor, but what is interesting is they threatened to call the police? Only time such a threat is made is if the employee becomes violent or goes off the deep end screaming and yelling.

Did you have an approved pregnancy leave? Like under FMLA? FMLA would guarantee your job, but not if the company can show they were cutting back. If you didn't file FMLA papers, they can fire you for being off work.
