Offer letter withdraw, what can i do?

I have been going back and fourth with this company that contacted me about being a recruiter. I interviewed a month ago and got my offer letter/agreement 2 weeks ago. I dont have recruiting experience, and they are aware. I signed the offer letter, did the background screening and even set up direct deposit. They conacted me a couple days before my start date telling me my start date need to be delayed due to "tech problems". a couple days went by and then they called me and told me that a higher head in the company doesn't want to go thru with it due to my inexperience (They knew from the start that this would be my first recruiting position) I have already signed everything and quit my other job. Now I'm left with no job at all. What are my rights?

It is an unfortunate, but probably not an illegal situation. Most states are "employment at will" and just as an employer can terminate an employee at any time, they can also rescind an offer.

Have you considered trying to rescind your resignation?

You should also request a copy of your background check (if you don't already have it) to make sure there is nothing there that would have helped them to change their mind.

1. You have no rights.

However,

They lied to you...something came back on your background check, references, credit, something, that caused them not to hire you.

PS: They are not legally required to show you any of your background checks, etc ....they paid for them, it's their property.

I would imagine that continuity in communication would be very important and your heading is grammatically incorrect. Could that have something to do with it? Good Luck.

you need an employment attorney in your state.

offhand, i'd say your case is strong -- they offered and you both accepted and relied on their offer, AND the specific wording plus state law, including prior cases, likely controls.

meanwhile, you need to get another job because this isn't going to be fast.
