Pa labor law question?

My husband is currently working at a jon where they held back his first two weeks. He's getting ready to start a new job and I've been told that if he quits his current job with no notice, that in the state of Pa his emloyer can keep his last pay check? I didn't think that would be legal? Anyone got any idea of where I would go to looks something like that up? Website or a Labor law Phone Number? Thanks!!! Need this info A.S.A.P.

I have no idea who told you this but you need new friends who actually read something besides the local comics. You would immediately contact the Department of Labor at 1-866-4US-WAGE. If you want to go directly to the website just type in your search engine "Department of Labor." Your husband's employer CANNOT keep those monies because he resigned from his position. It is not only a Federal law but state(s) law all must be paid wages for work done.

I don't think you can keep an employee's check in any state - he worked, he gets paid

If they do that contact the local labor office and they will deal with it.

No, not legal, they'd have to pay him for the hours he worked. They would NOT have to pay him for accrued paid time off.

You said that you've been "told" this - the person who told you that is wrong. If the COMPANY actually does this, call the PA department of labor.
