Part-time paralegal and legal secretary positions exist in many cities. Many small law firms cannot afford to hire a full-time legal secretary or paralegal. Also consider working for yourself and advertising -- that way you can be particular about the hours you work and the work environment, or you could work out of your home. Many lawyers need depositions summarized and you could do this part-time. Also consider court reporting as a career. Many law firms hire overflow typists part-time. Good luck! |

It seems like most paralegal positions are full time, but you can find part time employment as a paralegal if you look long and hard enough. I work full time and imagine that working only part time would pretty nice! |

Part-time and full-time positions both exist. You can work as an employee or as a contractor - it's often up to you. Ivy's answer is right on - there are lots of ways to get involved and some interesting careers ahead for you. Make sure you have a professional resume and image when you head out looking. You can find jobs in this field on craigslist as well as on the big job sites. Don't forget the non-profits - they have all kinds of things going on that you might fit into. |
