Here is a link to the ABA website and information they have available.

While the poster above who talks about "Biglaw" is correct about the numbers of attorneys trying to get into few jobs is correct, there is more than just "biglaw" available. A JD can be good in any business position.
And while top tier schools do run $100- $180K, you can get a good second tier school for less than half of that. What you have to do is look at what you want vs. what is available -- the best jobs go to the best students from the best schools, and if you have the guts, desire, and intelligence, you could make close to $160K right out of law school. If you aren't willing to put in the effort, you won't make it.
There are lots of other options in the legal industry. Visit the website above, and check out the information for High School and Pre-law.
Remember that there are a lot of attorneys who are reaching retirement age about now, who are looking to slow down. So there may be quite a few openings by the time you graduate.
Good Luck. |

You can become an attorney and work in the corporate field, entertainment, sports management, etc., if you get your law degree you can pretty much do anything you want to with it. |

I'm a law student right now, 3L, so here's some truth about law school. If you don't get into a top 14 school, or T14, and do really well, like Top 25% of your class, you opportunities are going to be really limited. I can't stress that enough. I am lucky enough to be attending one of those right now. Unfortunately, I found out after my 1L year I did not want to practice law, so I'm looking for opportunities elsewhere. I decided to stick it out because a JD is good, overall. A JD isn't what it used to be. It IS NOT a license to print money. There is an oversaturation of lawyers right now, and a lot of work is going overseas, as well. If you really want to be a lawyer, I say go for it. If there is any doubt, I don't think you should do it. It is not an industry with very good job satisfaction. I believe it is 80% of lawyers end up doing something else after 7 years. Divorce, suicide, alcoholism, and drug abuse are through the roof. Burnout is horrible among those who do get "lucky" enough to get BIGLAW jobs. 70 to 90 hours per week will do that to you. Thank God you have plenty of time to think about it. It takes 3 years, and over $100,000 to get this degree. There are other, much better ways to make money. Remember that. With that being said, good luck. |

I would look at universities with good business schools. Then start thinking about which law school you want to go to after your undergrad. You can get a J.D. with any major but I would think that a business degree along with a J.D. will make you extremely marketable. |
