How many people realise what they are letting themselves in for when they agree to accept a caution.
As someone who used to see enhanced criminal record bureau ( enhanced CRB ) checks as part of personnel selection, I bet most of the people who agree to this dont realise cautions WILL show up on enhanced CRB checks. e.g. if you apply for a job that involves working with vulnerable adults or children.
NB not all CRB checks are enhanced CRB checks

Not many, I'd guess.
Not many people, when offered a caution, realise they can opt to go to court instead, where they'd have a better chance of getting off with a warning - or if they're willing to lie - a not guilty verdict.
Obviously scrotebags know this, but decent people who make a single mistake generally accept cautions because it sounds less damaging than having to go to court.
It's also a bit of strange one in terms of having independent judiciary as the custody sergeant at the police station gives the caution, thus removing the need for independent jury or magistrates...
You just have to be niave enough to admit you've done something wrong and scared of going to court. If you balls it out, the odds of the CPS getting their act together and actually convicting you are well worth the gamble nine times out of 10.
That's why we've got a lot of scrotebags walking free and a lot of victims of harrassment who have a caution for a minor assault against their name. |

When I was Police checked to Foster mine was sent to my house, it had nothing on it, so I am sure some people are going to be gutted when they are confronted by this. |

unless you know what your talking about you can't just tell people this on here. in front of me i have a book called buttrworths police law and under the chapter heading 'cautions' there are 8 sub headings. nothing is ever as simple as this. |
