My wife work's 10 hours a week and is entitled to 24 day's holiday a year but her boss say's she must take the 8 bank holiday's out of the 24 , leaving her with 16 day's left , is this legal ?

For part-time workers, holiday entitlement is calculated dependent on how many days per week you work, not how many hours you work, and because you haven't specified, no-one on here can give you an answer of exactly how many days she is entited to. However, her boss is correct - the legal entitlement is 24 days INCLUSIVE of bank holidays (not 24 days *plus* bank holidays as you seem to think). |

I think your wife is confussed about how meny days holiday she is entitled to.
To get 24 days holiday a year you MUST work over 30 hours a week.
In a previous job I worked 18 HOURS a week and I was only entitled to 12 days holiday and 4 Bank Holidays. Colleagues who worked 37 HOURS a week were entitled to 24 days and the 8 Bank Holidays. |
