Qulified Lawyer Doesn't Know How To Practice In The UK! Help Please! Xx?

Hi everyone! I am asking this question on behalf of a friend. He is from Iran/Iraq (I am having a mind blank right now so I cannot remember which one!) and he is a qualified lawyer. He now lives here because his wife is from the UK and wants to know what he needs to do to be able to practise law in this country. Any detailed answers about what procedure/re-education he would have to go through and how he should get the ball rolling would be extremely helpful and greatly appreciated. I do not think a lawyer from Iraq or Iran can practics here.
To make sure I would Contact the Law Society for a solicitor or one of the Inns of Court for a Barrister.
As a solicitor he will ned to have a Practising Certificate from the Law society
and to be a barrister he will need to be admitted to one of the Inns Of Court (called to the bar)
He may need to take common entrance examinations and then a legal practice Course or Bar Finals and then he wil need a training contract to be a solicitor or a pupilage to be a barrister and that is just the start |

He needs to contact the Law Society and ask them. They can provide him the details of what he needs to do to upgrade his qualifications.
He will alos of course have to satisfy Immigration that he is legal to work there.

You need to do further study and do your degree in english law and do extra qualifications and training take about 7 to 8 years. |

Commonsense would say he would have to start from scratch, after all our laws are different than in his country.
They do not have Judges and Juries over there. |

He needs to go back to uni and retrain as his law degree is not recognised in UK - even English trained Lawyers cannot practise in Scotland because of different legal system |
