Redundancy notice question....?

Are employers legally obliged to give warning or foresight about redundancy to you.
I read that they must give you consultation first. What are the rules on this.
Can you please leave your sources.

Employers are supposed to give you ninety days notice of redundancy (you can either work it or they pay you for it if there is no work).
They should offer you alternative suitable work if there is any going,
They also have to pay you a certain amount per year for every complete year youve worked there, depending on your wage.
There has to be a fair way of determining who gets chosen for redundancy
A lot of employers team up with the job centre if there are mass redundancies to look at retraining etc for you.
However if youve not worked there two years you dont qualify for redundancy
A lot of employers will also consult unions etc prior to redundancy.
Go to your local CAB or phone ACAS for a leaflet which explains more

There are different rules depending on the number of redundancies being made. If it is more than 100 then 90 days consultation should be given, if it is less than 100 but 20 or more employees, then at least 30 days is required.

Have a look at www.direct.gov.uk, select the employment section and then the redundancy subsection.
