do i have to add my reason of leaving to my resignation letter? or just inform them that i am leaving in a months time.

There is no requirement that you give a reason for leaving. However, if your company has an exit interview process, or if you know your boss well enough to talk about it, sometimes it can be a good idea to let the company know why you are leaving. If it is for strictly personal reasons, there is no need to say anything, but if it is for business reasons (i.e. better compensation, you haven't been treated well or fairly, you've been held back or discriminated against), then you owe it to the employees you are leaving behind to speak up. Always remember to give back to your co-workers. Also, remember that companies cannot fix problems they are not aware of. |

you don't have to tell them anything...you don't even have to give a resignation letter unless you have a contract or something. But consider that you might need them to provide a good reference for you in the future (maybe your next job won't work out and you will be job hunting again soon). Your boss might ask you why are leaving anyway, so you better prepare an answer. |
