SC Clearance and a Juvenile offence, should I declare it?

My employer has given me forms for SC Clearance that must be completed and handed in within the next few days. (What a nice surprise!)
The problem is I was arrested for possession of drugs when I was 16 (18 years ago) I was never taken to court, just given a stern talking to a week later at the police station.
I am wondering if I should declare this on my SC application form. I did hear that UK juvenile convictions are supposed to be destroyed if you keep your nose clean (which I have for the last 18 years)
I have been agonising about this all night. Not sure to declare it and risk not getting cleared (possibility of losing my job) or not saying anything, it shows up on the SC checks and I get refused.
I really would appreciate any input or advice on this, I'm getting very worried. I thought this was all in my past.

I feel for you.
The skeletons come out of the closet every now and then to remind us of our human shortcomings.
If you were not adjudicated why are you concerned about juvenile conviction records?
What is your relationship with your boss?
Is it possible to approach and ask his/her opinion?
Eighteen years is way under the bridge.
If you've kept your 'nose clearn,' you should be able to make sincere eye contact and run it by the powers that be.

read the application over again and see exactly what it says.
SOme of these require you to list CONVICTIONS...since you were NOT convicted that would be a no answer.
Also
go to your courthouse and see if YOU can access that record.
Make sure that it is sealed
ask them for advice and see what they say |
