The law in the UK is that you have to be given a contract to sign once you've been in employment for eight weeks, so yes, you should have one.
If you don't have one, it's actually not a huge problem - you are still entitled to the same rights as you would be under a contract (for example, it's not like lack of a contract means they can just dismiss you without notice). But I know that I personally would prefer to have one just for peace of mind and to know that there will be no misunderstandings in the future, so you should definitely ask for one. |

Yes after this amount of time even if it is only part time you should have a contract. Your boss can fire you without giving you an explanation and you will have no come-backs. I'd go to personel or HR about this. You need to cover your back these days. |

In the UK a contract was actually formed the minute you started working for your employer. Its actually a written statement of the main terms of employment that you are entitled to have within 2 months of commencing a position.
This statement usually covers things like hours of work, salary, number of days holiday, notice periods, grievance procedures, etc. You are fully entitled to ask for the written statement of terms.

Yes you should have a contract as they can get rid of you at any time and you have no legal presence within the company, the other thing is if you don't have a contract and want to leave you could leave straight away and wouldn't need to give notice, You have more stature if you have a contract within a company i would ask your manager about having one. good luck |
