We have an ex-tern, and the ex-tern told me that my manager was talking about hiring her on once she finishes her externship. Does that mean they are replacing me. I have 3 kids the ex-tern has none. The only work I missed from due from pregnancy. And I schedule all my kids doctor's appointments around work. I schedule everything around work as to not have my life interfere because I need my job to support my kids.
Should I be worried? Should I start looking for a replacement job? I mean the extern does tend to be late getting to our site. I don't know what do ya'll think?

It's always good to have a backup plan, besides if you do look, you might find something better. I wouldn't panic about your job though, she may have just been testing you or trying to get you to feel insecure.
I would watch this one though, she might be a backstabber. |

It is very likely that you do not need to worry about getting a new job. Either the ex-tern is not telling the truth or she will be an additional employee are my guesses. Nevertheless, in order to ease your mind, you could ask your boss. If you ask in the right tone, it will not but your job in any danger. Just ask what the plans are. |

maybe you think too much.maybe your company needs more people to support your expanded business.you are the one who is in this situation,you know these very well.do some research to find out more information ,and always be prepared for the coming challenge.the competition is fierce,if you are not good enough you will be always worried,so turn yourself to be a important person by improving your expertise all the time |

don't listen to her, shes probably trying to freak you out in to quitting or messing up so she can go for your job.
If it bugs you, ask your manager and say you know X told me you were going to hire her upon the end of her externship, do I have anything to be worried about? |

I think you should ask your boss. It could be that the extern is trying to freak you out so that you'll quit and she can have your job. It could be that your boss is creating a new position to give the extern AND you a job. It could be a number of things, and it's not fair to you that you should be kept in the dark. I'm guessing it has nothing to do with you, though. Always best to check. |
