Should I report my job to the labor comission or just quit?
Find answers to your legal question.

Should I report my job to the labor comission or just quit?

My boss spends so much money on his gambling habits that none of the employees could cash their payroll checks last week and it doesn't look like we'll be able to cash them this week either! I dont feel like any of us should be working for free, I know in VA its illegal for a job not to pay you your wages...should I report him, get everyone to go on strike, or just quit. My husband and I have been here for nearly 5 years!!

You need to report him to the Labor Commission to get it on file. Just quiting makes it easier for him to continue to not pay you, plus you might not qualify for unemployment. You need to be unionized to go on strike, and you and your husband should both update your resumes and look for more steady, paycheck-on-time work. Good luck.

You could report him to the state labor commisionner. If you do so, you should also get as manyof your co-workers as are willing to do it at the same time.
You may also make progress by organizing a strike or other job action among your co-workers. Hold a press conference! Or go to his house with picket signs and flyers about whay has happened. Be careful not to engage in slander or libel, just state the fact that you have not been paid for two pay periods. He might be willing to find the money somewhere instead of dealing with the issue in court.

Well, legally you should report him, and sue for damages. I would suggest for you not to quit out of the blue or suddenly. Take your time and search for another job. Also, should he find out that you reported him and he fires you, then you have another bigger reason to sue him. Also, should he fire you, you can go to unemployment and let them know what led to your dismissal of employment.

Hope that helps. You can also talk to an attorney in regards to this if you want a better answer.

report him and quit and sue his ***!

Report him to the wage and hour division of the department of labor (www.dol.gov.) The law states that employees must be paid for time worked, on time, on a regular basis.

This guy and his gambling habit are big trouble. The sooner you're gone, the better.

Good luck.

Depends on what you mean by not being able to cash your paycheck. If you mean it was rejected by a bank for insufficient funds, you need to report the man to the police for embezzling company money. Either way, if you aren't being paid you should definitely quit. No way should anyone work somewhere that won't or can't pay them.

RUN FOR YOUR LIFE! When a company has trouble making payroll, it's in serious danger. Someone should be alerted to this problem but that would require proof of his misdoings. If you have solid proof that he's gambling profit away from company funds, then you could bring it before the labor board but first and foremost...get out of there while you still can!!!
