Should My landlord reimburse me?
Find answers to your legal question.

Should My landlord reimburse me?

My apartment complex is adding two additional buildings to our complex the last couple of weeks. The construction company there hired has left a bunch of nails in our parking lot and within a weeks period both of my cars had at least two nails in at least 3 tires. After having my tires replaced how can I get reimbursed back from my landlord?

If anyone is going to reimburse you it should be the construction company, not your landlord. Your chances of getting reimbursed are slim since you could have picked up the nails yourself before moving your vehicle.

Go speak with him. He should reimburse you, or he should get the construction company to.

Amber,

The one's responsible for your tires being pierced are the construction workers, not your landlord.

You need to go to the job supervisor and ask him the procedure for getting reimbursed. Make photo copies of your receipts and give to him.

If you don't get quick action go to small claims court.

Send him a bill and he wont pay for them he should submit the bill to the construction company.

Hold on to the receipts for the tires. You may have to go after the construction company. It is their duty to clean up their mess. Keep receipts and take lots and lots of pictures!

First of all after it happened once surely you should have been more careful? Secondly you can approach him about it and see how he responds, I would say that it is the construction company that is liable as they have left the nails.

Let the landlord know so they can speak w the crew but the crew is the negligent person responsible.
