Should i be fired for this reason?
Find answers to your legal question.

Should i be fired for this reason?

Ok well i was being treated unfairly at McDonald's. So i went to look for a new job (Wendy's). I told Wendy's i need to give a 2 weeks notice at McDonald's before i started working there; and they said that was good so that if i had ever left them i would give them a notice. Whelp i went in to work and i had gave my boss a 2 weeks notice and didn't tell them why i was quiting. So they made me come into there office. They said "Tell me why are you quitting." i said "i just have my reasons". they then started to get upset and they said " Well we will fire you if you dont tell us." i wanted to finish my 2 weeks so i can get paid.... so i told them "Im lookin for new opportunities and that i wanna experience new things." eventually i had to tell them i was moving to Wendy's. So they fired me right there. Do you think there able to fire me because of that reason? Should i do something about it?.. Oh and they told me i need to give there uniform back soon as i can. so i stripped in my undies and handed it to them and told them merry christmas.

Sure, it was legal. Perhaps unfair, but entirely legal.

It's called "employment at will." Basically, you can be fired for any number of reasons; you're employed at the sole discretion of your employer. Here's a link to Maryland's law (there's a similar question posted around the same time as yours that I just answered). State laws do differ, but in "at will" states the basic principles remain the same.

Yes they can fire you, and that's not uncommon.

You made a show in stripping and giving the uniform back on the spot, they didn't ask you to do that.

Talk to Wendy's, maybe they'll have you start earlier.

It was legal, if unfair. You can file for unemployment since you gave notice. And you may collect for at least one of the weeks of the notice period.

However, the stripping down to your undies was very childish and could follow you -- imagine when someone calls McDonalds for a job reference and they refer your strip down at work. Not a great idea. It might have felt justified and funny at the time, but could be one of those decisions that will haunt you later.

you can be fired for any reason as long as it is not a protected class, it may be unfair but not illegal
