i was supposed to have a scheduled review (i have it in writing on a copy of my last review of when i get reviewed again) 92 days ago. when they give me my review am i able to ask for back pay for the time worked in those 92 days? extra info: i live in AZ. i am the only person in my department and the only one who knows how to do certain things; they were late on my last review and my boss hates me. but i have in writing how much of a raise i can get and a general date ie. 90 days from Jan 1. they also promised me they would hire another person to take some of my workload from me becasue i do way more than my job description and position is supposed to be doing. and its not a very large raise only 5%. less than 1$ Thanks for any help.

there are no laws that make raises mandatory.
there are no laws that make reviews mandatory.
there are no laws that make a raise tied to a review mandatory.
there are no laws in regard to job descriptions or what duties are performed by any job regardless of title.
by law all the employer is required to do is pay you at least minimum wage and overtime when applicable.
all the other issues are employer-employee relations and are a matter of policy and/or contract. whether or not you get a raise and if so if it is retroactive is a matter of how you approach your employer on the subject and what their policy states. |

whether a large or small increase, i think your employer needs to retro (retroactive) your increase back to your supposed date of increase. i'm not sure about AZ, but in CA my employer does it all the time. if you have a HR or payroll department, do consult them. |

If I were you I would expect a retro (that has been my experience). If you don't think you are getting the retro talk to your manager. If you don't get anywhere go to hr or someone hire up. |
