Yes, your employer should give you written confirmation that you were given a verbal warning, what it was for, what improvements you should make etc. Check out the ACAS website. |

When you have a verbal warning it has to be witnessed.
Then you have to have a letter explaining that you have had a verbal warning, this is for your company to prove you have had one, if they didn;'t then you could have verbal warnings all day long and they wouldn't count for diddly squat!
However, the letter is merely proof, not a 2nd stage written warning, |

You are given two verbal warnings (not in writing) and then your final warning needs to be a written one.
You won't get written notice of a verbal warning. The final warning which needs to be in writing might make reference to the two verbal warnings you have been given to show the employer has followed all the correct procedures. |

Yes, you should be informed in writing the length of time a written warning will be held on your personal file. You have the right to view your personal file to ensure it has been removed after the specified time. Viewing your file also gives you opportinity to ensure everything in the file is accurate and up to date |
