So i got fired from my job should i fight for it?

ok...its kinda long but here it goes...
first off its pizza hut....im about 7 months pregnant and i was soon going to be out on leave to have her anyway one night we got a phone call for a delivery, the policy is to call back new customers and confirm the address...well i didn't i had lots of stuff i had to do that was gonna take me about an hour and it was 20 til close....so the manager on duty also had seen that it was not called back when he cut the pizza and saw the ticket....he gave it to the driver and b4 the driver can take it he has to dispatch for it which means he had to confirm in the computer that the order was called back.....which it wasn't...
well...the driver got robbed pizza hut lots a whole $10 and some change....boo hoo i woulda gave them that outta my check but i got fired for not complying for company policy but the driver nor the manager got in the slightest bit of trouble for not complying either....i called the corporate office and they told me that this is what happens to all people that dont call back first time customers if thats the case NOBODY should be working there. The termination form say progressive discipline and i have NEVER gotten in trouble there i got 40 hrs a week came in early everyday was training to be a manger i was soo stressed out from all this ...one of my good friends who had been working there for about 5 months was not even aware of this policy until they made it a big deal after the robbery.....so what do you all think should i be fighting for it? i dont want my job back but i want something out of this. I later found out that it was illegal to be fired and not be clocked in and the manager would not allow me to do so they used me for a busy friday night and they knew i was gettin fired so that was illegal too for letting me work, and to make it all worse she fired me in the dining room in front of customers and embarassed the hell out of me......Because of all the stress from this i have been put on bed rest from stress related complications.... what do i do?
Additional Details
i do know i did not comply with the policy and i am not sayin that i was right for it but it does say PROGRESSIVE discipline and i was never in trouble i would have gladly signend a right up form and takin it as a final warning, what i am wanting to fight about is not that i got fired because of that but that the company is obviously NOT consistent on how they handle these situations the driver and i both agree it was unfair the manager on duty didnt even get talked to about makin sure things were done correctly on his shift and i wasnt even the one that was supposed to be on phones anyway the manager is if there is no csr which i was production...cook...you guys that said i should have got fired i dont blame you for saying that but you have to agree that the company has a consistency issue correct?!

you knew the policy and violated it
you make an excuse of you were busy and did not take the time

the driver was robbed and luckily not hurt
you say boo hoo just $10.00

you violated a known policy and have an 'i don't care attitude' of course you were fired, what would you expect.

there is no law that states when you can or can not be fired, it can be at the end of a shift, at the beginning or on your day off. it can be in person, over the phone or by mail.
you know a lot less about the law then you think, what you know is what your friends have told you NOT what the law is.

the employer had grounds to fire you and it does not matter what others have done or failed to do in the past or if you are aware of any consequences of their actions.
you are responsible for the performance of your job, not someone else's.

move on, learn from the experience, have your baby and a great future.

if you really want to know what the law states:

and

if you really want to understand discrimination and what is not:

Well, first of all, you say yourself that you DID know you were supposed to call, but didn't because you were busy, which means that you deliberately ignored policy so they're probably within their rights to fire you. And the excuse that you had an hours worth of work to do doesn't hold much water - if you had made the call that YOU say you knew you were supposed to make, that would have made it what, an hour and two minutes?

And the driver didn't lose very much money - but could have been injured or killed, that has happened to pizza drivers you know - did that ever occur to you how serious this is? It doesn't sound like you have any case for fighting the termination.

What IS illegal though, is for them to have you working off the clock. They are required to track your hours accurately, and pay you for all hours worked.

Firing you in front of people and embarrassing you was unprofessional but not illegal.

I'm no expert but it sounds to me like you may have some sort of case against them. If this really is happening all the time and nobody else is getting disciplined for it, then it could be classed as unfair dismissal. Also you shouldn't have been fired in front of people like that, that's just wrong. I'd recommend you speak to someone who really know though - as I said I'm not a lawyer. Perhaps speak to Citizens Advice or somebody like that?
