What should I do? Sign it? Have an attorney look it over?

Usually they are pretty straight forward. It means they are offering you money to leave the company. You can ask for a recommendation/reference letter too. I would take it or negotiate if you think you can get more, but chances are very good that with or without acceptance of this package, you will be out of a job. You just have to decide if you want some going away money or not.

I would accept the severance, lots of people don't get one. They are terminating you and have no reason to negotiate a higher severance package. |

Have an attorney or trusted friend look it over. Sometimes they can be negotiated but not after it is signed. |
