Sorry, but I can't understand this legal talk! Please Help!?
Find answers to your legal question.

Sorry, but I can't understand this legal talk! Please Help!?

Okay, I know to some of you this might sound stupid but I have NO idea what this means!,
NBC cannot accept, consider or pay for any unsolicited creative ideas or materials. If you send something anyway, you waive any claims with respect to your submission.
And this...
The Company's long-established policy does not allow us to accept for review or consideration any ideas, suggestions, or creative materials not solicited by us or our subsidiaries. Therefore, in the event that you have submitted such content, please be advised that the submission has been forwarded to the Company's legal department for handling(this is for abc)
I have an idea for a news story and would like to be able to just send them the idea.
And please don't say, they don't want your stupid idea because it's something important to me!
But if all that means I can't send them an idea, then please just tell me!

By sending them your idea directly (and not by them contacting you or coming to them through one of their agencies), you understand that you will not be paid for it and it is possible they may use that idea without compensating you or giving you credit.

This is to protect them in case someone emails an idea and they just so happen to do a report on it without ever seeing the email.

The way i understand it is once it is in there possession they are free to do with it what they feel is best so your more or less surrendering your control of the item to there not guaranteed care.

It means that if you send something that they didn't ask you to send then they cannot accept it or pay for it. (they might steal it and pass it off as their own though, so beware). So if you want to send them an idea and they haven't asked you to, then DON'T

im not a lawyer or anything, but im pretty sure that it means, if you submit your idea, it is now NBCs idea. you have no rights to sue them over or anything like that. ya know?

Aunty's response is right on. ABC is merely stating that they do not accept unsolicited material and that the sender should not expect to be paid or expect any consideration for such unsolicited material.

Good luck!
