Stolen liver -- legal issues?

Let’s get the background issues out of the way first: The last seven years, I’ve known my liver wasn’t good, didn’t function properly. Its performance steadily declined to a point at which the doctor told me either I agreed to a transplant or I’d die within the year. So I agreed. My removed liver was functionally useless; in no way could it be used to sustain a fellow life. I asked my doctor if I could keep my liver as a souvenir. Since childhood it has been a wish of mine to devour a human body part, particularly my own. I didn’t initially see a problem with this. The organ is mine; I should be able to do with it as I wish. I perhaps foolishly told the doctor of my intentions regarding the organ, and he point blank refused to let me have my now extra bodily organ. I argued with him that the organ was my property, that they were committing an act of theft by keeping it from me. He replied that in cognizance with my intent, the return of my liver would be ethically unsound.
I have every reason to believe that the organ is being preserved somewhere, and I maintain a moral and legal right to eat any organ that is or has ever been part of my body. I am planning on suing the hospital at which the doctor is employed, and whose policies have robbed me of a part of myself. I would, however, appreciate any legal advice anyone could offer me.

the part is not preserved it is disposed of with other hazardous waste.

however the part (if preserved) is not yours legally since you traded it in on a newer model. |
