Suspended! For no good reasons. What to do?!?!?

My boyfriend was suspended from work today. He works with a woman called Ann who is his boss in the kitchen when the main kitchen boss (Carol) isnt working. Carol has informed my boyfriend that when she returns to work, Ann always goes to her with complaints about him. Stupid little petty complaints that she doesn't even care about. Anyway, i heard that Ann was speaking to Carol yesterday about him (petty again). Then today, Carol wasnt in. Later the manager of the whole place came to me and informed me that she had sent by boyfriend home. I asked him what had happened and the letter says that its for 1) leaving the premesis without permission, 2)unsatisfactory standard of work, and 3) bad attitiude.
Now..... when he left the premesis "without permission", it was to go home for lunch, and he actually had permission off Ann. The unsatisfactory standard of work is a load of BS because i know hes a damn hard worker and the attitude, every now and then he gets shouted at for no reason cos his boss is in a mood, to which he responds negatively (naturally!), and this is classed as a bad attitude.
Ann (the sneaky snitching lying 2 faced ALCOHOLIC stand-in boss) has clearly complained that much about him that Carol has now had to go to the manager about it. Hes now suspended on full pay, which is completely unfair as hes done nothing wrong, its just that Ann's lying about things just to get him into trouble. I dont know why she doesnt like him, may i add that shes in her 40s and is an alcoholic (she comes into work REEKING of booze), and clearly has nothing better to do with her life. But seeing as shes my boyfriends superior, the manager who decides what happens to him is bound to listen to her more than him!!
So, any suggetions? Additional Details And might i add, so that "Ansell A" is aware... it IS my workplace aswell, and although i am told not to get involved by the management, which i have no intention of, THEY are involving me. Im not stupid. Was just hoping some kind and knowledgable people would give me (on behalf of my boyfriend) some advice.

Suggestions - yes
1. stay out of it. This is not your problem or place of work and everything you have ranted about is second hand.
2. he is on full pay so not an issue at present
3. they will investigate, if things are as they say and they have him in for a meeting then there will be witnesses who he can call.
4. Don't make accusations about her being an alcoholic on a public forum.
5. let your bf deal with this.
Calm down girl. Nowhere in your original rant did you say that you also worked there. If you do that actually makes your comments on here actually worse as you are now leaving yourself open to accusations of libel etc (the lying acoholic remarks).
My advise stands, keep out of it. If Management ask your opinion then give it, without the ranting. |

Besides the most excellent advice already given, make sure you keep yourself out of it or you, too, could find yourself out of a job. |

Just like any job you toe the line and do what you are asked to do, or you move on and go somewhere else. If he is really a good worker as you have stated he should have no problem finding another job. |

Oh dear, you are actually not helping him by coming on here and ranting about lying and snitching lying 2 faced alcoholics.
If you work there as well then you are better of keeping out of things and advising your bf to sit out the suspension and wait until they get him in for a meeting/displinary hearing.
Prior to that he needs to write down everything he can recall - instances when (if) this person was drunk, any instances where he was unfairly treated etc.
If this has been happening then others must have noticed and he needs to be able to use them as witnesses.
You need to stay removed from things as if you get involved then it is likely that you will end up in trouble for stirring things up and as you are close to him your opinion will not be given the same weight as "independent" witnesses. |

Your boyfriend can deal with each individual claim.
If your bf is not paid for his break he needs to request what poilicy the company has that states he cannot leave the premises in his own time, and when he was made aware of this policy. I would state also that regardless of the site policy he did request and was given permission by Ann.
The unsatisfactory standard of work can be argued that he has never ever been pulled up about his work and why has he never been given any feedback in the past or the opportunity to put things right before now. Give examples of when his work has been good time keeping etc.
The bad attitude again go along the lines of when his superior shouts and humiliates, him in front of others its a form of workplace bullying and that as a manager she should be setting an example, again give examples with accounts and witnesses if you can. He has to be professional and stay calm do not accuse someone of being an alcoholic unless you have facts but he can mention that he thinks sometimes she is under the influence of drink as he is sure he has smelt alcohol on her breath more than once.
You do need to stay out of it unless asked they will be well aware that anything you have to add will be bias. |

next time Ann comes in "reeking of booze" call HER boss and have him come in and see for himself - if that gets no action - call the HR dept at the company Headquarters - no way someone in that position should allow a worker to be drunk on teh job - Boss or not |

Your only solution is to have Carol intercede for him with the manager. Ask her at the same time how to stop this friction between Ann and your boyfriend. Unless a way around it is found one of them is going to end up losing a job. If she is drunk every day you could have some police friends do a sobriety check when she arrives at work. Its mean but she'll be gone. |
