I am a female who works overnight with all guys, Recently I have been having a problem at work with a co-worker. He lives nearby me and expects rides to and from work, I also feel pressured by my supervisor to drive this person. If I need to leave early my supervisor says "Well, who is going to drive so and so home? I have told this person I will drive them when it is convenient for me and will let him know. He is a married man twice my age, and twice my size, and has a car nicer than mine which he is unable to drive due to multiple tickets for what I do not know.
He calls my cell phone as I am getting ready for work, if I don't pick up...he calls in 1 minute intervals, he recently started calling my home which to me is odd because I never gave him my number to my home where I live with my parents. My mother has been very sick, and I have told him this several times. This past Wednesday he called my house and cell all together about 10 + times.
I have spoken to my supervisor about this situation...the management and the union. After all this, he still called and I am refusing to go back to work. Since nobody seems to want to help me, I am disgusted and want to quit. I feel like this is so unfair, but I do not want to work directly with someone who calls my house at such a frequency. It is bizzare to me that he just doesn't leave a message after calling once.
I am super frustrated by this because I feel like I have been shut out of my job due to this individual. Any advice on what I should do?

Yes, call the police! This is telephone harrassment and it's ILLEGAL.
You have a legal right not to be harrassed by anyone over the phone or otherwise. If your bosses and union do not want to take your side here, you need to get a lawyer and force them. This is ridiculous--you should NOT have to put up with this, and you are under absolutely NO obligation to do anything for this man, especially when it involves your INconvenience.
If no one will listen, then you should quit--but do not stop pursuing legal action against these people--for the company to allow this sort of behavior to go on without even attempting to stop it is utterly bizarre. It's also aiding and abetting. That's ALSO illegal.

This is harassment and you should report it to the personnel dept at your work! You need to find out how he got your home phone number too. If your boss gave it to him without your permission that could be a lawsuit! |
