Terminated from job.?
Find answers to your legal question.

Terminated from job.?

All, This is a real important question and i really hope that you can answer it.

I was recently terminated from my job.

Reason being is that i was involved in some legal issues that involved the police to come up to where i work and pick me up and take me in for some questioning.

I was suspended for the past month and now they finally decide to terminate me.

Legally...can they do that?

Note: This is in the state of Kentucky

Also, I have not been charged with any crime what so ever

Yes, they are allowed to do that.
There is 3 keyswords in this question that you have stated:
1. LEGAL ISSUES
2. POLICE
3. QUESTIONING

And anything that involves LEGAL ISSUES, they have the right to terminate/remove you from your job.

Yes. Sorry. It's legal and most employers would do the same.

If you have a union at your job no they cannot, If you don't have union representation yes they can.

Unless stated otherwise, or you signed some sort of contract, most jobs are considered "at-will employment". That means that the employee can terminate employment for good reason, bad reason, or no reason at all. But it also means that you can leave, strike or stop working as well.

It's scary but a good life lesson to know that you can lose your job at any time for no reason. I hope you find a new job with better employers soon!

Yeah they can fire you.
I lost my own job in July and I still can't find anything decent.

I wish you the best of luck in finding a new job asap.

They could fire you even if the police HADN'T come to your workplace and picked you up for questioning. So yes, it's legal.

Sorry, not the answer you were hoping for, I know.

If it is a right to work state that allows them to fire you at will and you to quit at will. However, that does not preclude you from filing for unemployment unless there was misconduct involved with your termination. Having the police pick you up can constitute misconduct in some cases depending on how its viewed.
