Termination of employment, mistake?!?
|
Hello. Well due to the chance of a new job, I handed in my weeks notice to my wrk last Thursday. I have since thought, and realised i made a mistake and would like to stay. Is it too late to withdraw my notice, is this possible? thanks.

It depends on how valuable you were to them or how much they liked you. If you were valuable, than you can probably get your job back (long as they didn't hire a replacement). If they did hire a replacement and there are no more jobs to fill, that could be a problem. If they didn't like you very well and you were on the verge of getting fired, than you also probably have a problem. Sometimes employers wont like an employee very much but don't have a reason to fire them. if that person quite, they did the place a favor. In your case, you will have to decide which one is true and try to get your job back! |

Talk to them and ask if you can withdraw your resignation. If you have been a good employee, and they haven't replaced you yet, they'll probably say OK. |

Your notice is in fact a resignation and you would have to ask your employer to disregard your resignation.
Your employer is under no obligation to keep you on, but if you have a good reputation, they probably will re-instate you. |

The employer is not under the obligation to, but you can try. But I won't keep my fingers crossed if the company later starts laying off people & find you are the first to go (due to loyalty issues). |

That is up to them. There is nothing wrong with letting them know you have changed your mind, but they are well within their rights to end your employment if they want. |

I don't think it is too late. Go in early and ask for your letter back tell them the truth and explain that you enjoy working there. After that think this over.... NEVER TAKE a job you won't like.. Work at what you like and like what you do. Another thing... one NEVER QUITS a job without already having another to go to. Be honest with yourself and EVERYBODY.... Work hard, stay busy, visit very little, come in early and stay late and your growth in yourself and that company will surprise you. You will also be happier in life.. |

Of course not. I'm assuming you didn't let into your boss all the reasons you were quitting. If you did than you stuck your foot in your mouth. If not- it's simple. Let them know you rethought your situation working with that company and that you decided it would be a mistake to leave. Tell them the truth. There is no reason to worry about telling them that you want to continue working there. If there are reasons that you wanted to stay that are because of things you like in the company tell them those things. Be honest and straightforward. Keep it simple. More likely than not, they won't want to find a replacement for you. And they may reevaluate your standing with the company. It is possible that next time you had a review it would benefit you.
Good luck!

Your employer is under no obligation to keep you. You can try asking them to disregard the letter and let you stay buy legally they do not have to. Most employers will not let an employee stay after they give notice to leave since it shows you are not dedicated to the company. |

Depends where you work and in what standing you were. I work in a restaurant as a server..I NEVER give notice...that always results in reduced hours, tables etc. a chance to screw with my money, in retaliation for leaving. If it's a good job, and you're an asset, talk to your manager, tell him why you're leaving, if it's only money a raise might be offered. |

Why not? Just talk to your boss and tell him/her you'd like to rescind your resignation.. |

hahahaha...the company wont be too happy....you can try though.....they may take you back with a pay-cut and loss of benefits.... |

Go to your employer and let them know you enjoyed working there and you would like to give them the opportunity to counter offer. Take the offer they give you and count your lucky *** stars. |
