Texas Labor questions.?

I work for a major manufacturing site. We have been forced to use vacation time this quarter. Now they are closing the site for 2 work weeks and telling us we can use vacation if we have it or we must go unpaid. Is this really legal and is there any way to get help like from unemployment?

YES it is legal to shut down the business....
while they are shut down you will be able to apply for unemployment insurance and if you meet all the criteria draw benefits for at least part of the time.

You are experiencing an unpaid furlough, which is legal. It is basically a temporary layoff. Check this link about how to collect unemployment.

I would start looking around for another place to work if you believe they are preparing for major lay-offs and you should inform yourself of your current condition with your unemployment office.
