· Opinions about the employee free choice act:
it defeats one of the basic premises that a democracy lives by...
a SECRET vote.
By taking away the secret vote intimidation of those who would choose to unionize or not becomes easier.
A secret vote allows employees to follow their own beliefs rather then being pressured by either side.
What do you think will happen to those who decide to NOT support the union if the union wins?
What will happen to those who did support the union if unionization fails?

This act will not make it easier to unionize it will simply allow peer pressure and "arm twisting" to be more prevalent form both sides of the issue.

There are parts of the act that are good and unionization if voted on by the employees should be streamlined the card signing part of the act needs to be deleted.

Pros and cons of unions:
unions have proven in the past to be an asset to the working man and woman but they also tend to sometimes forget that the employer and employee have the same ultimate goal and that is to provide a service or goods to a customer in a fair and profitable manner. Many unions have become self-serving and if the employer is inclined to be fair and treats employee well the union simply adds cost, prevents maximum productivity and rewards complacency and mediocrity rather then rewarding superior performance (that can set a standard that many employees simply don't want to achieve). Unions tend to tie managements hands with unrealistic demands and low standards.

With employers who tend to be unfair and abusive unions have proven to be a valuable tool and thanks to the unions many of our current labor laws are in place. The fact is the issues that unions fought for and were needed to address are now dealt with by law.
Unions started out fighting for the workers, any workers right to work...
now they fight against it.... ironic isn't it?
