Ok on Dec. 2 I got involved in a car accident with a irving police officer. The Police officer failed to yield row and hit my car while I was driving and my one year old niece in the back seat. We were both fine but now after waiting for over a month TRISTAR, the risk management, called me and told me that the amount of damage is $1,367.00 and I can either accept that or 1,167.00. The thing is that is not even half of what I paid for the car. The car was totaled and they say that is the amount of the car, a 2001 chevy cavalier with only 80,000 in mileage. I paid 3,000 and I did not choose to be hit by that cop, after all it was the police man's job to be watching out. I believe I should get more. I am a full time college student about to start school in less than 2 weeks and where in the world will I get a car with $1,367 that would not leave me in the middle of the street???

What is the value of the car? It doesnt matter how much you paid for the car ... it's how much the car was worth at the time of the accident. I understand it was how your choice to be hit by the officer but it is not the officer fault that you may have overpaid for your car |
