I took two of my PCs in for repair last July (Tuesday 1st of) and was told that they would be repaired by the weekend or the monday at the latest. On the monday I phoned the guy who I left the PCs with and he told me that he was still fixing them and to phone him again tomorrow. When I phoned him the following day I was met with his voice-mail so I left a message acquiring as to what was happening. I went to his small PC repair shop and found it closed constantly to my shock and after leaving dozens of emails I was getting nowhere. So after two weeks of hearing nothing and being frustrated by voice-mail I phoned the police. A month passed and I still heard nothing and the store phone number had been cut off, I sent him emails on his website and got no response. eventually after two months I phoned the police again and they looked into it and last week got in touch with me telling me he had gone bankrupt and could not get into the store to get my computers as the liquidators refused entry. He could give no reason as to why he had not bothered contacting me, but said that he would be sending my PC's back to me by Parcel-force. The police officer gave me his personal email to contact him to make sure this was the case and i've tried and he still hasn't responded. Still no computer's surprise surprise! Not having my PCs and not knowing their whereabouts has caused me a good deal of stress, not knowing if they had been scammed off me, knowing my personal details could be used, all my personal data and priceless memories on there, the hundreds of pounds worth of software seemingly lost. Both computers together cost me £1000 and £750 respectively and I cannot afford to replace them. I also ran an ebay business which I could not run without my computer's causing me financial hardship. The guy's brazen disregard to admit responsibility angers me. Do I have any legal options open to me? Do you think I could sue this man or can these people just get away with doing something like this? I would like to know my legal options. Any advice would be great!

Call a lawyer. I hope you have receipts, maybe a ticket or something that says what you left there. I would not let anymore months go by. |
