Troubles at work: To cut or not to cut (my hair)?

I work at fast food restaurant in ontario canada.
Lately I've been asked/told (a lot) to get a hair cut, but it's shorter than all of girls there. My hair is barely at neck length, yet the average hair length for the girls is just below the shoulder blade. But of all the girls there I'm the only one with curly hair. We all wear hats, and I'm the only one that wears a hairnet.

There complaining that my hair is "too messy looking", but that's how grows, I've tried all sorts of things to control it but it still curls out at the bottom (even on good days), and it's too short for hair-ties, and too heavy and thick for bobby pins. I tuck it into my hat as much as possible but it just pops back out not long after.

None of the customers have complained about my hair (I don't think), just certain ladies at home-office. Thing is my hair has been longer (by about 2-3 inches), and twice as messy (some days) and we've had guys (and these guys are pretty strick) from home-office come in and not say a word about my hair.

Is there anything I can do to get me off my back (without getting a haircut cause they'll think they won...and maybe I feel like growing my hair out a bit more)? Should I bring this up with the Ministry of Labour?

Also my boss said that home-office is going on firing rampage and will fire you at the drop of a hat (literally i think, knowing them), so if I do get let go cause I have curly hair (I don't think I'd be having this problem if it was straight) and refuse to get it "chopped off" what should I do?

Fast food must be different in Canada because here in the US they are always looking for help and wouldn't be so nit picky as to risk losing the help that they have over well protected hair!

Maybe you can keep the length but go get it layered so there won't be so much bulk to it. From your description if you go any shorter you might be mistaken for a boy!

I'd try the layering and ask the hairstylist if there is any leave in conditioner or gel that you could use to smooth it up a bit. If you do get fired over it I would definitely report it.
