Two Weeks Notice?

I work in retail. I just got hired as a teacher and need to put in my two weeks. I wanted to give them a little more than two weeks as a kind gesture to fill my position. I am afraid they will say something like leave today!! But I need my job for the next two weeks. What do you all think I should do?

Well, at my job you cannot get fired without notice unless you are under 90 days. I have worked for the corporation for 2 years.

Some employers will make your leave effective immediately but still pay you for your last 2 weeks. Depends how professional the company is.

Unless you are a terrible employee or they are overstaffed and need to cut hours, they will be glad that you will work while they look for a replacement. If they tell you to leave when you give notice, it will allow you to collect unemployment and that will be charged to them.

You should look it up online, but I know here in Florida it is illegal for an employer to fire you after you have put in your notice; whether it be two weeks, one day, or three months.
Make sure you write in your notice that you are MORE than willing to fulfill the three weeks (or whatever the extra time you're thinking may be) in order to help train your replacement.

You can't get fired for giving notice.

Give your notice as soon as possible. Tell them about your great new job and how it's what you've been working toward for many years. They will be happy for you, and upset to see you go at the same time.

work another two weeks then give them notice. Most retail employers have at will employment meaning they can fire you without notice & you can technically quit without notice

Give them your two weeks notice, then go to the labor board if they make you leave early.
