If you send it cert. mail.
If i give my employer a 2 wk notice and i usually work mon-fri,
it will mean 14 business days or two wks (10 days)? Also If they accept my two weeks notice do they have to pay me until the last dime?

Okay some ppl say it's unprofessional to send it Cert. Mail...
But that's how it's in the hand book...
It's not me that's how she wants it...
Hand delivered is impossible because she wks in an office on
the other side of town...

Why would you send a two week notice by Certified Mail? It usually starts on the day you give notice. Then you work 10 days and leave that's considered two business weeks Mon-Fri. You should hand in your notice, that's just wrong for your supervisor to get it via mail that's unprofessional you need to give it to them in person.
If you give your notice today your last day would be the 15th and yes, they have to pay you up until the day you leave so if they allow you to work thru the 15th then they must pay you thru the 15th. |

2 weeks notice is 2 weeks (14 days)
If they accept your notice, they have to pay you til you leave. Some companies let you go early when you give notice, so they dont have to pay you and cause you probably wont get much done in your last 2 weeks |

The other posters are right about counting the days.
But, in the state I live, if you give notice and they don't let you work 2 weeks, but let you go immediately, you were "fired" without just cause and you can get unemployment benefits (although there is a 1 week waiting period, so you would just get 1 week of benefits).
Also, your employer has to pay you within 24 hours if your fired, but on the next pay day if you quit.
If you're really concerned about this, you should check out the laws in your state.
Or if your employer lets you go immediately, you can all your new boss and ask to start early. |

You indicate the final day in your letter the reccomended date being two weeks from the date you send it. |

The notice starts on the day you indicate in your resignation letter.
Your employer does not have to pay you or accept your two week notice. They can choose to end your employment immediately.
