Within 1 hour of you arriving at work it MUST be a minimum of 16 degrees C. If not you can go home and get paid for the day. |

Its16°C, if your emplyer is an 'investors in people' then it has to be 28°C or over. |

The HSE standards say
The temperature in workrooms should normally be at least 16 degrees Celsius unless much of the work involves severe physical effort in which case the temperature should be at least 13 degrees Celsius. These temperatures may not, however, ensure reasonable comfort, depending on other factors such as air movement and relative humidity.’

I'm afraid, too, that regulations are extremely vague. Gobojo quotes the HSE guidelines quite correctly. It is worth noting that these guidelines say "should", not "must", and elsewhere they say that the temperature should be "reasonable", which is as clear as mud . . .
As far as I know, no-one has tested the point in court, though it would be interesting if anyone knows that has been done. |

the law is really vague when it come to this sadly its difficult to prove that you have to be sent home as there are different opinions as to what a 'comfortable temperature' is.

I looked on the net and it said 14C but doesn't say whether or not you have the right to go home.
