if you were hired for a full time position [40 hours+/wk] and now they keep cutting back your hours and for weeks now it has been running 22-24 hours/week yet they will not let you drop any of your benefits, can you file a complaint with the National Labor Board?

In my job, we OPT for benefits....we are only allowed to make the choice once a year in March....I don't think it's fair we can only opt OUT of them once a year too....since my hours have been cut so much, my check is TINY....I need that money to help support my family and put food on the table that's going into insurance I'm not using....did that answer your question?

No, they aren't required to keep you on full time, and you have no legal complaint unless you have a contract that says you'll get 40 hours a week for a specific period of time - and even if you have that in a contract, it's a civil issue not a Labor Board issue.
I don't understand what you're saying about they won't let you drop any of your benefits, since benefits are something THEY give to YOU -could you post a little more info on that please? |
