Unemployment benefits: Will I qualify?

My job is predicated upon sales and I am not making my numbers. If I am terminated for this reason, will I qualify for unemployment compensation (until I find another job, or course)?
If not, then I'd rather tender my resignation than to be fired.

Take the being fired. If you resign, you lose your qualification for unemployment.----for certain.
If they fire you, they may be decent about it and not protest your claim for unemployment. In this economy, how many sales people do you think were left go due to not meeting sales quotas? Provably a lot.

If you're an employee and not an independent contractor, then you should be eligible. If they deduct anything, even social security, you're an employee. If you get your checks with NO deductions, you're probably a contractor. |

It depends if you are hired as an hourly worker or is 100% sales as then you become a contract employee, and therefore ineligible for any benefits. Check with your Human Resources Department. |
