Violation of my Equal Employment Opportunity rights?
|
I applied for a job and was told by a recruiter that I met minimum requirements but I could not be considered because I do not live in the "immediate" area.
I live 29 miles from the job. I've commuted further to get to work at an earlier start time. It's just so outrageous and I'm tired of getting screwed.
I then told her that I would even be willing to relocate, but was then told that I would have to move first before I could be considered. Like I'm going to move just to interview, without being sure of having a job? I would be dumb to do that.
Sounds really unrealistic, but it happened. The problem is that I met all of the qualifications on the job posting. I should be allowed to participate.

It sounds reasonable depending on the job. |

Location is not considered a violation of your rights, the company has the right to choose someone who lives closer to the company. Try these links and get a home based job, this is NOT& a business you would be working for a company.

Not being considered due to the distance you live from the job has absolutely nothing to do with Equal Employment Opportunity rights. The company has the legal right to consider who they want, and to not consider you because of the distance.
You met all the qualifications. So did a number of other people, it sounds like. |
