we drive hgv's in the uk.I just want to know my position if i refuse . How can a company just change a contract to suit them .More drops are being put on our runs..we are getting back later because of a greater volume of traffic on the road.

Assuming you live in the UK - It's difficult to advise without reading your old and new contract. I suggest you take both to your local Citizens Advice Bureau to get advice as to whether your employer is behaving illegally and/or unreasonably. |

Without knowing more details, it sounds to me your existing contract is still valid otherwise they would not have to ask you to sign a new contract. Get proper advice with copies of your current contract and the new one available to advisor or union officials. If you are to be paid on piece work basis, then you will not be paid on hourly basis. You finish when the job is finished. This may be their way of ensuring that you are not stretching your hours to finish your job.

I wouldn't sign that unless they were talking about travel time to and from a work site. I don't know where you work, but that isn't even legal in the US. |
